Hi!

As a certified Human Resources Leader with an MBA and real-world experience in the recruiting and hiring fields, I know what it takes to build a career that’s fully aligned with your desires, motivations, and dreams. I want to use my insider knowledge to help you skillfully design your most rewarding career without compromising your compensation or your sanity.

I started my career as an accountant. However, within months of my first job as a financial auditor, I realized I was in the wrong profession. I didn’t enjoy the work. I was suffocating in that environment. It simply wasn’t me. I wanted to work more with people so I decided to steer my career in that direction.

After earning my MBA from Michigan State University, I switched my career focus to human resources. I worked for large corporations, where I gained experience in manufacturing environments. I worked for small companies, too, that staffed lean and fast. They relied on agility from all employees to ensure top performance for the company at large. Throughout my 15 years as an HR leader, I worked with all levels of employees from highly-skilled production employees to senior-level executives readying the company for acquisitions.

The most heartbreaking part of my work was witnessing first-hand women cutting out their personalities and joys

– all the things that made them beautifully unique and inspiring –

and checking them at the door.

I, too, fell into the self-defeating trap of putting on a mask before walking into my office. I suppressed myself for fear that I wouldn’t be accepted for who I really was. I was a creative soul who craved to bring more innovation and fresh ideas into work, but there were clear boundaries as to what could be changed and what couldn’t be. I even talked myself into pushing my intuition deep down inside so that I relied predominately on logic and established processes. I don’t blame my employers at all for valuing this more black-and-white approach because that’s what the business needed to increase efficiency and profitability.

But it simply wasn’t me. And I knew it inside.

Yet I didn’t want to admit it because that would mean I would need to do something about it.

Finally, I took a long, hard look at my life and radically changed it. Fast forward to today. I’m taking all the expertise, learnings and experience from my years of coaching others around their careers – which was only part of my job – and making it my primary focus. I launched my own career consulting firm, M.S.Elemental, LLC, because I believed that there was a gap in the quality of personalized career services available to individuals in today’s dynamic and demanding economy.

Today, I’m fully aligned with my professional passion and mission of helping women get the most out of their careers, ensuring that they’re playing fully to their joys, and being paid super-well while nourishing their souls.

Melveen has more than 18 years of work experience, primarily in human resources. She is an accomplished professional with exemplary HR management experience. She has demonstrated success in strategic planning and execution of core staffing, operational, and administrative initiatives to drive overall HR organizational and bottom-line financial performance. Her knowledge includes having worked closely and supported a variety of functional specialties including sales, marketing, accounting, finance, operations, quality, warehousing, and logistics. Melveen is skilled and adept at aligning business objectives, company culture, and HR programs, policies, and practices. She has been relied upon by senior and executive leaders to bring technical expertise, business lucidity, and strategic insight from both a people or organizational perspective. Most of all, she is passionate about coaching to maximize individual performance and organizational success.
